Bringing Open Compute Efficiencies from the Hyperscale Datacentre to the Enterprise, Telecom, Co-Lo and Edge Environments.

Date: , Track:

A brief look at the history of Open Compute and the why, the how and the so-what of the efficiency gains realised by the Hyperscale datacentre operators and how this translates to massive CAPEX and OPEX savings.

But is this just for the Hyperscalers?? No, this presentation then concludes by focusing on how these same efficiencies can be realised in a conventional datacentre space.

Brexit and What This Means to the UK DC Market… Findings from the techUK Report

Date: , Track:

Opinion is divided over whether Brexit signals the beginning of the end or the end of the beginning for the UK data centre sector.  In reality, leaving the EU presents us with both challenges and opportunities and as a sector it is essential that we understand the implications for operators, customers and the supply chain.  We must also be crystal clear about our policy priorities: what we need government to do in the negotiating process and what they can do more broadly to support the sector.   Emma will provide an overview of the implications and an update on progress in our policy dialogue with government.

Fire Performance – Cabling In Data Centres

Date: , Track:

“By the 1st July 2017, cables placed on the market have to specify their “reaction to fire” performance in terms of EuroClass in accordance with the Construction Products Regulation.  However, which EuroClass is to be installed where? This is not addressed by the CPR and is left to national implementation. This presentation explains what is expected to be specified in BS 6701 (telecommunications) and BS 7671 (LV power supply).  In addition, the presentation will address the plans of other countries. The information provided is important whether you are specifying new data centres or just maintaining the installations in existing ones.”
